Friday Night Celebration

Man of the Week - Alistair
Friday night celebration is always a welcome finish to the week and never more so than after a long two week half term. This week saw a new hot snack in potato wedges and garlic bread. Though Andrea's took longer than promised to cook it, it was worth the wait. There is much to be celebrated this week, as ever:

The first university offers cam in for James L and Mik, no doubt the first of very many for this year's talented upper sixth. Those two also came top of the school in the UK Maths Challenge, earning them the right to represent the school at the next level. Assan went to the front of the school in assembly today too, to collect his prize for coming third in the ARTiculation public speaking competition.

Top Bloke - Ben
Sporting wise, there were some excellent achievements. After his team won their Futures Cup group convincingly, Tom has been selected for the next stage of England Hockey trials. Ben Kight grabbed just five tries in the Natwest cup game, which also earned him top bloke from the options, whilst Karan led the Fives first team admirably, winning all his games despite the team going down. Earlier in the week, Aaron and Benson won their rubbers for the badminton team whilst Jonny grabbed second in his swimming races. The U15D Rugby team will be our best represented side tomorrow with Duncan, Matthew and Nihat all playing.

There's a new King of Merits in town... Mik
This week's merit contest was hotly contested as they have rolled over from the start of half term. Since we broke up, Hodges has had seven merits but was discounted this week. This left Mik as the top merit winner with 5, one more than Krit.

In the cleanest room stakes, James Loewenthal was the winner, a great turnaround for him, whilst the matrons also singled out Adrian Ho as having done a sterling job in his responsibilities this week. After the meeting Alex.G and Philip deserve special praise for voluntarily cleaning the kitchen on behalf of the house.

By the way, can you tell Mrs Gracie did the photos this week...? She is demonstrating well the talent needed to feature well in the new house photo competition which boys can enter by tagging photos of the house with #talbotslife. There will be a halftermly prize.
