Men who've turned 18...
We've had three boys (Rufus, Phillip and Kevin) who have turned 18 this term already so last night we held a small party in their honour and read seem encouraging emails, as well as sharing the best things we love about each of them.
The night was fun and it was so great to see the camaraderie that has developed amongst them once they get into their final year.
What a fantastic reminder of the amazing upper sixth we are so blessed to have in this house.

Star Actor in Othello
Teepee has been selected to play Othello in the upcoming school production of it. He did a fantastic version of the scene where Iago convinces him that Desdemona is having an affair with Cassio in assembly to whet the appetite and is also in the trailer for the play which is the video clip below. We are really looking forward to going and seeing him next week. The play is on the 8th and 9th of October at 7.30pm at the Bedford School Theatre.

We started the week with house water polo winning one out of the two games and going through to the next round which will be on Monday next week. Boys in the house took part in a block fixture against Harrow which resulted in an number of boys winning their matches. It was especially pleasing to see 28 boys representing the school and both Charles and Lennart playing their first matches for Bedford.
In Arts news, Teepee gave an excellent performance of a scene from his upcoming play, Othello, in assembly which was slightly frightening in its intensity at times. There will be a blog post about the play arriving soon...
Some amazing news was Dan.L being awarded his Art colours, the first major colours of the year in the house.
The house Tuck Shop reopened this week with much excitement.

See the video below for a roundup of our trip to Ickwell today. A written roundup will be added shortly...
'A couple of weeks ago we all went down to Ickwell nature reserve on a
Sunday afternoon to be greeted by grass snakes and swans. Throughout the sunny
afternoon we played football and rugby on the grass whilst the campfire was
burning. The trip was a success and a fun day for the house'

We end another busy week in Talbots with lots of news and activities. Baking club began again last Saturday with Mrs Edwards leading a team with delicious end results for everyone-cup cakes with mallow oozing from them. Sunday saw the new boys' paintball trip with St Peter's whilst the booys in the house had a football tournament which was followed for all by a BBQ and the traditional start of year game of American Football.
Tomorrow brings more rugby matches. This week the seniors will be playing against Uppingham. Rufus will be playing for the 1st team and Jack for the 2nd's. For the 3rd team Michael, Justus, John, Charlie and Ed and for the 5th's James and Nico, who makes his first appearance in Rugby for the school. Good luck chaps. In the U16s, Ben again captains the A side whilst Alex is on the wing in the Bs. Nihat, Bob and Duncan are in the C team and Matthew continues to be a rock in the D team. In the U15s, Teepee plays for the Bs and Sasha for the C team whilst Adrian and Justin, playing his first game for the school, are playing for the under 15's D team. This week is the first set of fixtures for the U14 teams, and Leon has been selected for the A team. Dan and Nikita are in the D side.
Room of the week goes to Grindlay-well done to Ed and Ben M. This is followed in close 2nd place by Dan L.

House Football Tournament
On Sunday
the 7th of September Talbot's house had a football tournament. Three
teams took part with six people on each team. Each match was just the first
team to score would win and the winner would stay on. We played for about an hour
and a half until we decided which teams would be in the final. The teams were: myself , Leo, Philip, Hodges, Jun and Alex against Nico, Alikhan, Adrian,
Kritt, Nihat and James. As much as I would like to tell you that we competed for hours in an intense match which was greatly contested by both teams, I unfortunately can’t because what actually happened was within about the first minute of the
game my team won a corner. Philip took
it and unfortunately Alikhan managed to heel it into his own goal thus making
my team the winners!

New Boys' Paintball Trip
Team Talbot's ready for action |
Last
weekend Talbots, St Peter's, Pemberley and Crecent 4th and Remove form took
part in paintballing at Delta Force, Luton. We all took part in 3 rounds,
speedball, d-day landing and cowboys and outlaws, plus one bonus round, the
hunger games, for those with paintballs to spare. All 3 team rounds were
fiercely contested and all ended in a draw, it was only 2 bonus points that
were awarded to the Pemberly-Crecent team that gave them the overall
edge.
Overall
it was a fantastic day out where everyone had a chance to work as a team and
have a laugh. On behalf of all houses that took part, Dom and I would like to
thank all the staff and sixth formers that helped organise the trip.

House American Football and Barbecue
After a joyful weekend in Talbot's, with the Juniors going away for paintballing and football earlier that Sunday it was obvious the lads of the house were itching to devour some barbecue chicken. So that’s exactly what they did. I unfortunately missed the first half of American Football but I was given the call up by Mr Gracie for a half at Quarter Back. Supposedly Team Rees had scored two touchdowns in the first half, but I seriously doubt that and was most likely to be gamesmanship. So it was all even in the second half and everyone went inside after the excitement of a 0-0 half.
