Touch Match vs Staff

This week saw the biggest fixture of this year's touch rugby calendar. forget internationals or finals, this was Team Talbot's vs Bedford School staff. Of course, the match was much hyped in the local media and intense training had taken place in the weeks leading up to the event. Talbot's were nearly at full strength but without the inspirational coach Hart or 'gaffer' as he is also known. There was hope pre-match as the staff team had looked thin on the ground. However, they made late call ups of a couple of senior Rugby players from the school XV that enabled them to take a squad of 7 into the game.
Unfortunately the staff scored first but were quickly pegged back by team Talbot's to 1-1. The staff's predictable style in the first three phases was still difficult to defend and made space for their ringers to do damage to the Talbot's defence and take them into a 3-1 lead. They had reckoned without the well know Talbot's mental strength though and a first half hat trick from Josh including a length of the field interception made the scores 5-5 at half time.
Team Talbot's felt hopeful at half time that the staff's age would come into play and that we would have superior fitness. However the young guns for the staff took them into an unassailable lead that meant the game finished 9-7 to the staff. Team Talbot's can hold their heads high though as they played with spirit and determination. Man of the match Josh was complemented well by the range of passing that Ben has and the tricky footwork of Tom.

There was some brief footage that we managed to obtain before the major television networks got hold of it which can be found here.

At least there is a chance to move on with our next league fixture. However, it is against the league's best team, Paragon piranhas so watch out on twitter to see how we get on...

Still proud of our team
Returning after scoring
