Friday Celebration 7/3/14
Wow! When you sit down to write up the Friday celebration, one really realises how much happens in the week in the house.
There were some excellent highlights on the academic front as Ali.B introduced the speaker at this week's Gilbert Lloyd Art lecture and Assan then gave his own lecture about the 'merits' (sarcastic in this lecture) of Modern Art. Bob and Jun were both selected for the y10 Maths Challenge team. Duncan gave us feedback on the World Book day event too.
On the Music front, Dom.B gave a very impressive performance in the A2 Music performance exam on Tuesday night.
In this week's Merit competition the top dogs were Alex.G and Tom.C who both earned 5 in one week.
They were followed by:
3 merits: Simon, Ben.K, Bob, Jonny and Benson
2 Merits: Mike, Benno, Alikhan, Adrian.H and Teepee
1 Merit: Duncan, Kritt, Bobby, Fuga, Dom.K, Rio, Ali.B, Karan, Ben.N, Dylan and Max
In sport this week, Karan helped the house senior squash team to the plate final which is to be played next week. Tom.C was the fastest in the entire 5th form for the school road run this term whilst Teepee made the semi finals of the 60m (in a PB time) and the Long Jump at the national indoors. He is now ranked 7th nationally in both events.
In teams this week we have:
Football: 1st: Nico, 2nd: James.L, Rio, 3rd: Rufus, Leo, 16A: Fuga, Alex.S,
Hockey: 1st: Ben.N, Tom.C, 3rd: Jack, Dylan, 16A: Josh, 15A: Ben.K
Sevens: U16: Josh
The winning pancake team from Tuesday received their applause and Bob was congratulated for cooking Korean donuts for everyone's supper on Wednesday.
The best award this week went to the men who took responsibility for tidying the kitchen earlier this week. Mars Bars all round for those heroes.
The Top Bloke was awarded to Simon who stepped up to score the winning penalty for his team last weekend in the dying seconds of the match.
Man of the Week went to Assan for his excellent achievement in giving a school lecture about something he is passionate about.
