French Play
Benno has written the article below about the recent French play at school. One of the things we love in the house is when boys go and support each other as they have done here:
On the 13th of March, some men of
Talbot’s went to the theatre to support their fellow chap Michael.
He took part in the performance of
Molière’s Dom Juan by the French Society. The group consisting of girls from
Bedford Girls School and boys from Bedford School had an ambitious aim: the
whole play was in French! However, in the hope of catering for a wide range of
spectators, they also provided an English translation.
The acting skills were beyond doubt very impressive and well practiced. But that was nothing compared to the skill in French shown on this occasion. Almost without mistake, fluent with no pauses to think and most of the time a barely audible English schoolboy accent, these French students showed truly superb French skills.

Overall, it was a very successful
performance; it might have even inspired some other French students to take
part in next year’s French Play should there be one….
