The roundup of this week's events are below in our storify story with the awards underneath it.
(rememebr to hover over images to see the tweet that goes with them and to scroll with the arrows at the bottom of the square)
In merits:
Henry, Fuga and Darren got 3 which meant we had a new king of merits this week (though Darren maintains Mr Montgomery had given him on in evening before the celebration). it was Jonny with 4 for the week.
This week's top bloke was Justus awarded because he finally scored a try for the school this week which was (according to justus) an epic length of the field effort that is probably the best try ever scored...
The man of the week goes to Assan who represented the school at the pride in bedfordshire awards, where he met the Chief Exec of the Harpur trust, produced two artworks to be auctioned off for movember and gave an insightful and isnpired mini speech about his reasons for taking part in Movember.
The play was an absolutely fantastic performance and it was great to see Benno, Alikhan and honorary Talbot's man Harry B involved.
Next week sees the house Christmas play taking place and our trip to the theatre on Wednesday - there's never a dull week in Talbot's!

Bowling Trip
Last Thursday (November 13) the fourths and removes when on a bowling
trip. After getting shoes fitted and repeatedly bragging about past
victories, we got underway. For the most of us, the quality of the
bowling started out pretty poor. But after our 3rd or 4th
try, strikes and spares were began to be bowled. The overall winner
of the first round (by a considerable margin) was Henry, who
capitalised on his previous experience, scoring just short of 100 points. We
then stopped for a well-earned dinner break, consisting of burgers, scampi or
nuggets with a side of chips.
After this short break in the action we got underway with round 2. With confidence on our side, our scores began to increase. At the top of the board margins narrowed and there were frequent position changes. Several places were fought down to the very last bowl with an increasingly tense atmosphere. But yet again, Henry was the overall winner with a very respectable score of over 120!
On behalf of all the boys in the house, I'd like to thank Mr Gracie for taking us and organising the trip, and Mr and Mrs Trigger's excellent advice.

This exciting fixture against the three schools on Sunday
the 16th of November, featured 6 players {Philip, Jonathan, Asan,
Nihat, Fuga and Dom.B} from Talbot's, representing the first team of Bedford School.
The first match was a tough one against the experienced
squad from Oundle. Having caught an early lead of 3:0, it forced us to give every
full potential within us. Hence I was able to score an early penalty in the
second half, followed by a half-way longshot by me, to get us back into the
game. Finally, Jonny scored a brilliant shot after a genius combination
of passes from our team, setting the score to 3-3. Although receiving a late
goal, making Oundle the winner, lead us to conclude that, as a team, we are
succesful given that we omitted any critical mistakes.
Both games against BGS and Northampton were easy wins
with top scores at:
Philip...4
Jonny...2
Dima...1
Stewart...1
Special recognition to Dom.B with his first
appearance in Water Polo, especially with the first school team. Congrats!
Thank you to all who have visited and supported us!

Term motors on fast, but there is always time to celebrate all the good things that happen (even of this is written on the Saturday after the night before). We have produced a storify summary of the week below, let us know what you think via a comment or on twitter. If its popular, we'd love to start doing more.
In addition to the info above, Jack was awarded minor colours for his efforts for the 2nd XV this week - a fantastic achievement.
In the pool, Jonny and Philip represented the school tremendously both securing wins in their races in Thursday's meet.
They are both in action this Sunday in a home water polo fixture along with Nihat and Assan.
In Rugby, two of the men of Talbot's were promoted to higher teams this week, Alex.G from the U15D to the U15C and Lennart to the U14C, having started in the E team! Alongside him in the U14s, Leon played for the A team away at Radley.
In the U15s Adrian, Jonny and Frank.L were in the D team whilst Sasha.P, Teepee and George played for the B team, including an epic try which was scored as a result of the three of them combining - a genuine team Talbot's try! Frankie played for the U15A. In the U16s, matthew continued in the D team whilst Bob and Alex both scored for the U16C, who Nihat was also playing for. This left no men of Talbot's in the B team, but Ben.K lead the U16s to another victory, adding further to his ludicrous try tally this term.
In the seniors, Nico played and scored for the 5ths whilst Ed turned out for the 4ths. Charlie, John and Justus played for the 3rds, with Charlie saying Justus was particularly good. Jack was in the 2nds whilst Rufus was part of the 1sts, the only team to win away today at Radley.
It was great that Philip and Leo went out to watch lads from the house in action too.
This week's lunchtime concert was for 5th form music students and Matthew, Hodges and Kritt all performed well, watched by Jonny who went along to support.
In the awards of the week, Henderson was pipped into 2nd place in the room of the week by John in room 1!
In the merit comp the following were awarded merits in the past 7 days:
1: Leo, Rufus, Tom, Fuga, Duncan, Hodges, Kritt, Jun, Sasha, Henry, Leon
2: Charlie, Ben.M
3: Bob
4 and king of merits: Darren
This week's Top Blokme was chosen by the options to be Michael as a result of his performance in the open mic night for charity in Wednesday and his being offered a place at warwick Uni.
This week's man of the week was Nikita who not only secured 5 merits but also was tremendously helpfula tm bowling with William.
Though all of the above are great, the absolute highlight at Friday Celebration this week was finishing off with the opportunity for lads in the house to nominate others to get a sweet prize for great stuff they have done. The list was enormous and highlighted the depth of appreciation the guys have for each other. This is a house where we value everyone and it was awesome to see it in action in such a tangible way. After a well deserved break over half term the Talbots family are back into the swing of things again this week. There have been a number of block tests and deadlines and there are a number of fixtures this weekend so everyone is immediately in the zone.
Firstly big congratulations to Jack for passing his driving test on Monday-well done!
This evening saw a number of boys visit the Bedford Blues fireworks display which was enjoyed by all and others at the opening of the Art exhibition in the school foyer. Matron also hosted a film afternoon where Waterboy was the movie of choice (what happened to Forest Gump?)
Tomorrows fixtures for the senior boys are as follows-Rufus is playing Warwick at home for the 1st team. Jack for the 2nds, Charlie, Michael, John and Justus for the 3rds. In the U16s, Ben continues to captain the A's with Alex, Bob, Nihat and Duncan in the C squad. For the U15 A team Frankie will be playing, U15 B Sasha P, Teepee and George and U15 D Alex G, Frank.L, Adrian and Justin.. Lennart is playing for the U14D again at home against Warwick with Leon in the A team. Good luck to you all.
Top bloke of the week goes to
Rufus for his major colours award in Rugby and being nominated for independent schools lambs trials
Man of the week goes to
Jack for passing his driving test (finally?) and completing an unbelievable eating challenge with over a kilogram of different exotic meats at the options meal!
Room of the week goes to
Grindlay and Room 2 jointly - well done Ben.M, Alex.C and Tom
Merits this week go to:
1: Lennart, Nihat, Jun, Matthew, Bobby, Fuga
2: Dan, Sasha.K, Alikhan, Duncan, Ben.K
3: Henry and Alex.C
4: Darren - who is King of Merits for the 2nd time
Breaking News: Tom told us after the celebration meeting that he has been invited to trial for the England U18 Hockey squad a year young. We're not surprised they'd invite such a legend and wish him luck.

Teamwork, Dedication, Passion, Energy, Commitment.
These are all qualities that describe your typical Talbot's man. They are also what it takes to succeed in difficult circumstances and under pressure.
This is what the men of Talbot's found themselves needing to do on house singing night. For anyone new to the house to enter the great hall when you can hear the chanting and stamping of the supporting crowd from the house and not feel apprehensive would be quite something. To then get up in front of them and a hall full of parents, your peers and staff takes real courage. To do it in such a way that you instill pride in every one of your house mates takes something special.
The performance of our 3 songs on the night was excellent. The 6 weeks of practise, 5 days a week, came to a wonderful fruition as Sean conducted with aplomb, intervening just as it looked as if control might be lost of the rhythm, and taking the house through to the wonderfully strong "HEY HEY" to finish an excellent performance. They made all the staff and parents of the house immensely proud and it was clear that everyone tried to give their absolute best from the moment we stood up to the time we sat down (both of which, it seemed generally agreed around the school, we did with the most unity).
The men of the house can thus look back on the performance and feel immensely proud of their hard work and striving together for a common goal in a wonderful way.
The fact that WE WON THE UNISON CUP was the absolute icing on the cake and an achievement to be immensely proud of! That is the cup for the boarding house that comes first for their performance and thus is the one that is most special to us in a lot of ways.
This was of course followed by the outstanding post event party that comes as standard with your life membership to Talbot's. It was great to welcome all the parents and staff and an army of Wheres Wally's from St Peter's to celebrate our success until we were hoarse from karaoke, eyes burned from playstation on the big screen and stomachs were fit to burst from chocolate fountain and pizza consumption.
What a night!
Well done men, we solute you!

Last Tuesday we hosted our joint day house, St peter's, for a barbecue to celebrate our winning start to the year in sports day and generally get to know each other a little better. The catering team from school did an amazing job with the catering and everyone had their fill!
It was then decided that a Day vs Boarding football match would be an appropriate would be an appropriate way to cross the divide and seal the friendship! the day house had greater firepower than the boarders and were also helped by legendary goalkeeping from Reni to take the scores to 4-1 to the day side. However, our boarding resilience, coupled with the ringing of the bell to call reinforcements brought the game back to 5-4 to the boarders. This was also helped by Sam P scoring a hat trick of own goals! Unfortunately the day side snatched a sneaky goal to allow themselves some respectability in a 5-5 draw.
It was a great occasion and made all the more memorable by Mrs Murray's eloquently crafted impromptu speech!!!

Go Karting Trip
On Monday 6th
October Talbot's house on a house trip to Daytona. In the house of Talbot's
everyone is a winner , but Mr Gracie decided that the Race should decide
the Absolute winner among us. Ben.M decided to give Go karting recruits an
easy win and had a safe last place. In the senior race Aaron came
first, Mr Gracie than told everyone that he could not go as fast as him,
because his tyres were cold. In the junior Race Frank.H came first with
surprising 27 seconds beating Ben.K by 0.2 seconds. The true racer Award has been given by me to Nikita, for forgetting to press the brake before the turn. Even
when the race was over he smashed into the wall and could have smashed the chap
conducting the race but the wall saved him.
Thanks Mr Gracie for the brilliant time at Daytona.

Men who've turned 18...
We've had three boys (Rufus, Phillip and Kevin) who have turned 18 this term already so last night we held a small party in their honour and read seem encouraging emails, as well as sharing the best things we love about each of them.
The night was fun and it was so great to see the camaraderie that has developed amongst them once they get into their final year.
What a fantastic reminder of the amazing upper sixth we are so blessed to have in this house.

Star Actor in Othello
Teepee has been selected to play Othello in the upcoming school production of it. He did a fantastic version of the scene where Iago convinces him that Desdemona is having an affair with Cassio in assembly to whet the appetite and is also in the trailer for the play which is the video clip below. We are really looking forward to going and seeing him next week. The play is on the 8th and 9th of October at 7.30pm at the Bedford School Theatre.
