Preseason Rugby Success
Three boys from the house were involved in pre season rugby tournaments. Ben Kight played with his usual excellence in the U15 tournament at RGS Guildford. John Holroyd and Josh Simmons meanwhile, were at the annual Blundell's U16 preseason tournament. Both played excellently as Bedford won the cup for the first time.

As with any community of people who live closely together, Talbots house has evolved a vocabulary that might sound strange to some. Here are some key words/phrases that you might come across and what they mean:
25 side - The side of the house nearest to town, where Mr & Mrs Rees live
27 side - The side of the house closest to the park, where Mr & Mrs Gracie live
Assistant House Master - The tutor who lives in the house and helps the housemaster. It is currently Mr Rees
Barn - The big room where boys enter the house with the pool and table tennis tables in it
Boot Room - The big room near the garden exit where you can keep muddy shoes, outdoor coats and sports equipment
Drills - Tasks set to serve the house, usually as a consequence of not fulfilling responsibilities as a member of Talbot's
Duties - Areas of the house you are given to look after for a set time period
House Master - The person with overall charge of the house and your care whilst in Talbot's. It is currently Mr Gracie.
JCR - What used to be the 'Junior Common Room' which is now the house computer room.
Matron - The amazing ladies who make you tea, listen to your concerns, do your laundry and look after the house during the day.
Options - Senior boys in the house who help keep it running smoothly and who are good to talk to when you are worried or have a question.
SCR - The senior common room. A quieter sitting room where you can read, do some work, play games or practise the piano.
Tutor - The person who you see each morning and is in charge of helping you make the most f your academic and other opportunities whilst at Bedford.
Don't worry if you forget, it's always fine to ask. If you come across any other words/phrases you don't know, let us know so we can add them to help future boys who are trying to settle in.

GCSE Results
Many congratulations to all of our GCSE candidates. There were many very impressive results and much of the hard work done over the past couple of years was rewarded.
Rio Rosano led the way with 8 A*'s with Assan Amirov not far behind on 5. An A* of course is just as much of an achievement as an A or a B grade where one thought they might get a much lower grade, so there is much to be proud of.

A and AS Level Results
Many congratulations to all of our leavers who received A level results today. There were some excellent and well deserved grades collected and we wish them every success as they move on to University and the next stages in their lives.
Every boy received at least one A or A* grade with Ryan Chan (2 x A, 1 x A*), Josh Li ( 3 x A, 1 x A*) and Patrick Tai (2 x A*, 1 x A) particularly catching the eye.
Well done and good luck from all at Talbot's!
Our incoming upper sixth also did themselves proud with some top AS level grades. Benson Chen had the overall best results with A*, A, A, B. Mikhail Glik and James Loewenthal should also take a bow after receiving A*'s in A level Further Maths alongside their IB studies this year.
