Well we're back in action for the summer term! Its amazing how the imminence of exams and the good weather has brought a relaxed but happy mood, seemingly universally.
A great highlight for this week was the return of Mr Chance to school this evening to open his new exhibition in the foyer gallery. As one would expect, the men of Talbot's demonstrated our house motto that 'We Value Everyone' by turning out in large numbers to support him. We are really proud of this; that's what we are all about!
The theme of showing value was also in evidence as we welcomed James Siu (OB 2015) back to the hosuse for a visit this week. It was also great for a number of lads to see Ali Blake (OB 2014) at Mr Chance's exhibition.
This term, apart from working towards exams, we are encouraging everyone to try something new. It was great to celebrate the following tonight, therefore, and their endeavours:
Benno - first after dinner speech at the CCF dinner tonight
George - 1st game for Northampton Saints U17
Brady - 1st ever Art exhibition (voluntarily)
Duncan - First time at Pythagoreans society
Charlie has taken up Volleyball
Alvin played serious Tennis for the first time
Tizian played Cricket for the first time
Other great news from the holidays was Tom adding to his U18 England Hockey caps in games against the Netherlands and has gained scholarships and strong uni offers for his Hoockey. George.S also played for Saints in the U16s national academies tournament. Alex.S and Dan.R represented the school in pre season cricket games with Lennart getting stuck into the Rowing camp. Ben.W participated in some stretching Musical courses too.
In assembly today it was a privilege to see Luke going up to shake Mr Hodgson's hand as one of only two boys who won Gold in the national Physics challenge (top 3% in the country).
In merits this week the following have worked hard enough to get some even though we've only been back for four days:
1: Charles, Oscar, Teepee, Nihat, Harun, Ben.M
2: Curtis,
3: Edwin, Luke
The summer term also means Cricket and its great to see Ben.K and Alex.S playing for the 2nds tomorrow with John primed to slam it to all corners for the thirds. Dan continues to go for the U14A team after bowling very tightly in the win vs Bedfordshire this week. Sunday may also be bringing house basketball, we'll wait and see...
This week's room of the week is Grindlay and so goes to Hodges and Harun.
Top Bloke is Ed for his efforts getting to the end of A level DT coursework.
Man of the week is Luke who is not only king of merits and was certificated for the Physics challenge but also found out he has been accepted onto the prestigious Ross Maths programme in China for this summer after a tough selection program! Well done Luke!
