Charity Run
Thursday began with heavy rain and the house relays and our charity run looked in doubt. however, by lunch time things had brightened up and the men of Talbots were ready for our challenge. Charlie had led the lads to challenge ourselves to a combined 200 laps, each nearly a mile long, of the house relay course. The boys wanted to do it to raise money for Barnardos as it supports teenagers who haven't necessarily got the same opportunities as Bedford school boys do.
Some lads took persuading as running is hardly their strong point. However we managed in the end to get every fit and able man of Talbots plus mini Talbots (will and Elisha), Mr and Mrs Gracie, TWR and Mrs Crossley to the start line. Once everyone had done the laps they committed to (at least 2) things looked bleak. We still had nearly 100 laps to go and a very empty looking course. However, a dedicated few stuck around to get us through to the end when Fuga and Johnny crossed for laps 199 and 200. Special mention must go to Igor of yr 9 who ran 9 laps (just so he could beat Charlie!) and Duncan, Alex and Fuga who ran 10. Jack and Jonny also stuck through to the bitter end in the cold wind and fading light to get us through.
A big thanks to all of those who have sponsored us. If you haven't done so yet, it's not too late. Just check the link below:

Another busy week has flashed by with lots going on in Talbots. Michael and John took part in a lunchtime concert on Thursday entertaining the audience together. Michael, Charlie, Justus, Assan, Alex K, Rufus and Benno took part in house drama on Thursday evening along with Dom B doing a fantastic job on the lighting which was a very humorous and entertaining event. Kritt turned 16 on Thursday and Michael is celebrating his 18th today-happy birthday boys!
We decided to celebrate by having our first barbecue of 2015 which included an excellent football match under the floodlights where the 4th/Removes claim they won....
This week's merits are as follows:
1: Charles, Rufus, Adrian, Sasha.P, Alex.C, Bobby, Tom, Benno, Ben.M and Charlie.
2: Kritt and Fuga
This week's king of merits, with 4, is Frankie!
This weeks team lists are as follows-in football playing for the 1sts are John, Fuga and Rio, they will be playing away against Rugby. For the colts B team Nihat and Simon will be playing at home against Rugby. Also against Rugby and playing for the junior Colts A team will be Frankie and for the B team Alex G.
In hockey Tom will be playing for the 1sts at home against Uppingham. Jack and Charlie will be playing for the 3rd team, again at home against Uppingham. Ben K. will be playing away for the U16 A team. Good luck to you all.
Top bloke this week goes to Ben.M who is giving a lecture on Tuesdat to the Theo and Phil society and defeated the head of school in house debating today!!!
Man of the week is Kritt who fetched meals for Bob all week, who was on crutches, including in his own birthday!

House Drama
Last night was the house drama competition. We had a number of lads taking part and they really brought the house down. It was tough to follow an excellent and well rehearsed Crescent production but the efforts of St Peter's did us all proud. We didn't take a top two place unfortunately, perhaps because the judge didn't get the inside jokes as much as some of the other plays, but it was an excellent all around effort. Mike and Charlie were excellent toffy schoolboys and Justus' rough humour took a lot of laughs. Assan was a slightly too menacing bully with a hockey stick... Rufus played the chav superbly (obviously?!?) and Alex.K, Justus, Rufus and Benno were excellent in the Rugby players - photo scene which no one who saw the play will forget in a hurry! Dom.B did a fantastic job with the lighting and sound also.
As ever, the occasion is made not just by those who perform but also those tat support them. As is always the case with our men, the number of boys at the event was large and made for a top occasion.
Some photos of the play are below:

After visiting for a citizenship session on productivity for the U6th last term, author and speaker Graham Allcott made contact with the house through Mr Gracie. He asked some of the boys to take part in a focus group for the final stages of writing his latest book 'How to be a Knowledge Ninja'. Six of the lads from across the yeargroups read sections of the book and gave feedback, for which Graham acknowledges them in the thanks section of the book by saying 'Your insights, wise counsel and practical advice were a transformative part of the whole process. Thank You.'
The lads gained much from the experience and Graham has sent us a couple of signed copies of the book to support the learning of the lads at school which are obviously now in the hosue book swap! It is a fantastically helpful book for young and old alike trying to improve study and learning skills. We think it will be immensely helpful for lads in the house in coming years.
The official launch of the book was last week and was broadcast live on youtube. You can watch it back here...

Happy Mother's Day
It's Mothering Sunday here in the UK, so some of our boys wanted to send out a special message to their mums.
(Please don't be offended if your son is not on here, we just took a selection of our earliest arrivals back from Exeat!!!)

Flow Rider Trip
We had an awesome time at Bodyflight UK this weekend. The lads got to get stuck into the flow rider, climbing and the racehouse car simulator challenge. Everyone had a fantastic time and hopefully just about everyone has made it into the trip video below!!!
A particular thanks To Mr and Mrs Rees and Mr and Mrs Hills-Jones and families for coming along to make it a great trip.
Detweiler 2015
Anyone who has been up to the gallery in the school foyer outside the bellroom could not fail but to be impressed by the quality of Art Work on display. The fact that there are so many of the pieces from the men of Talbot's gives us huge pride. The following boys entered the competition and we appreciate their courage and time in doing so:
Art: Dan.L, Kevin, Assan, John, Bob, Dom.B
Writing: Nikita, Lennart, Charles
Whilst any efforts to enter are amazing and the judging is, of course, subjective, we were really proud that Dan.L was highly commended in the 2 dimensional Art, a fine achievement.

We don't yet have the writing in but images of the boys pictures are below the streaming of the event embedded here.
