Boys in Concerts: Replay

The end of term always sees some excellent concerts. We understand though that parents and friends may not always be able to make it. Fortunately the school now streams concerts live and hosts them on Youtube afterwards. Thus, we have a collection of the recent concerts below. Please watch and enjoy!

England U16 vs Scotland

Tom.C was part of the England U16 hockey side that played against Scotland last weekend. They won comprehensively and Tom was amongst the goals in the second fixture. The writeup from the England Hockey website is below, with a great pic of Tom!

England's U16 Boys were up in Scotland with the U16 girls for a series of training matches against the home side.
Match 1
England 5 (2)
Euan Gilmour 6 44 69 (FG, FG, FG)
Duncan Scott 24 (FG)
Jack Whelan 55 (PC)
Scotland 3 (1)
England's U16 Boys' first match against Scotland was a scrappy affair.  Despite the high-scoring game England could have won more convincingly as they failed to convert numerous goal chances in the first half.
Euan Gilmour's hat-trick was a significant highlight as he made his way through Scotland's defence again and again, however conceding three goals was not part of the plan for Head Coach Charlie Bannister's young side. England were hoping to keep Scotland at bay in a better performance in their second match.
Match 2
England 8 (6)
Tom Crowson 14 (FG)
Euan Gilmour 23 31 34 (FG, FG, FG)
Eddie Way 26 (PS)
Duncan Scott 27 (FG)
Lucas Ward 44 (PC)
Josh Parvis 51 (PS)
Scotland 0 (0)
A much better performance resulted in a comprehensive victory in England's second game of the series. The game was effectively ended by a flurry of goals at the end of the first half, which resulted in a 6-0 lead as the sides went in for the break. Once again Euan Gilmour made a name for himself as he recorded another hat-trick. England did continue to push hard throughout the second half but only managed to score twice more - England's goalkeeper only touched the ball once in the game.
England U16 Boys Head Coach Charlie Bannister said after the series: "The whole side was more precise in the last third of today's game and didn't make the same careless defensive errors as the previous day, so the margin of victory more accurately reflected the balance of possession and chances created. The weekend in Edinburgh will hopefully have helped the squad's preparation for the tough games to come in the future."
